2021年3月，开山集团股份有限公司与西安交通大学共同出资，在西咸新区成立开山（西安）透平机械有限公司，注册资本金3367万元人民币。公司主要进行“低温液体膨胀机”技术研发、成果转化及其相关联的销售贸易业务。

开山（西安）透平公司核心技术来源于用西交大孙金菊课题组，孙教授多年来一直坚持低温液体膨胀机的基础研究和技术研发上的原始创新，先后在低温液体膨胀机内流设计理论和方法、整机通流设计优化、整机结构优化等方面取得重要突破。围绕低温液体膨胀机在工业空分、液化天然气(LNG)、低温甲醇洗、低温液化储能等能源密集型工业系统替代高压节流阀所具有的节能降耗的优势和市场前景，着眼于低温液体膨胀机等流体机械的研发、制造和产业化应用，实现该技术的工程化设计、项目建设、运行调试并产业化及商业化运营。
